Ireland’s M&A market continued to show resilience in 2025, supported by strong mid-market activity and sustained cross-border interest.
In the recent Mergers & Acquisitions Special Report (20th February 2026) in The Irish Times, Key Capital CEO Colin Morgan shares perspectives on:
• The consolidation imperative
Sustained consolidation that we are seeing across the Irish market, particularly in financial services, mechanical, electrical and HVACR specialists, in addition to our predictions for future areas of consolidation such as legal services.
• Private equity dynamics
Continued demand from both domestic and international private equity and private equity-backed platforms in Ireland, underpinned by a positive outlook for the Irish economy, a highly skilled labour force and record levels of dry powder which remain available to deploy.
• Managing cross-border risk
Key pitfalls we commonly see and how to best mitigate risks in cross-border M&A. In our experience, local knowledge and relationships such as those across our IMAP network are critical to identifying and successfully completing acquisitions overseas.
Despite a volatile global backdrop, Ireland’s structural strengths and international appeal remain evident.
We are pleased to contribute to the discussion and to continue supporting clients across a wide range of transaction scenarios.
“In our experience, local knowledge and relationships are critical to identifying and successfully completing acquisitions overseas. Key Capital is a member of the International Mergers & Acquisitions Partnership (IMAP), a leading mid-market M&A partnership of corporate finance advisors across 51 countries. Through this network, we regularly help clients identify suitable targets outside of the Irish market or identify international buyers who are looking to enter the Irish market.”Colin Morgan, CEO at Key Capital
